The happy day has arrived! Elena and Dallin are out of school. It only took 24 hours exactly for me to hear the words, "I'm bored!". That's a little shorter than usual. Luckily, it was followed by a sheepish grin. We enjoyed the end of year awards ceremony. Elena pulled in the National Fitness award and, in fine Despain tradition, received the Citizenship award for her team. Scott and I quietly noted the contrast between Elena's awards with Dallin's. He also brought home a National Fitness award, a Drama Club award and the well received "Class Clown" award. (Do we really want to give positive reinforcement for that?)
Elena played her violin with the High School symphony for graduation so she got to meet her new teacher and some kids she'll play with next year. She had a good time doing that and got to see several friends from the ward graduate.
Elena got to go to her very first Rose Prom. She got all dolled up and had a great time looking at boys, dancing with boys and talking with boys. She came home with a big smile on her face. Scott proposed that next year we fix her up with a card board box and a Hunchback of Notre Dame mask or something.
Dallin was chief cook on his last camp out. The Dutch oven lasagna was a big hit as was the pancake and sausage breakfast.
We're sticking close to home this summer. Come go to the pool with us sometime!
