It's amazing how not getting a letter from Jeffrey effects us all. It's Golden Week and I'm sure he's busy or maybe they're having a zone or mission conference while everyone is on vacation, but we still miss hearing from him. We'll call him this Sunday night to chat. My parents will be here so that will be fun to have them be able to talk to him before they head out for Germany for 18 months.
Ainsley got a job at Learning Express (local educational toys/games store) and is doing an awesome job of learning everything she needs to know. She's enjoying having time to re-read some of her favorite classics. We get serenaded on the piano frequently. It's good to have her home. She and I get to go on our morning walk, bike ride or something and get to talk and listen. She's helping to lighten things up a bit around here and to give extra hugs where needed.
Elena's counting down the days until the end of school. She and Scott worked together to produce an awesome poster for the "poster contest" in her math class. This, of course, required a special trip to Carowinds Amusement Park to obtain the necessary data. She used some measurements to figure out how far from the space needle we parked our car - using proportions, Pythagorean theorem and lots of words like A sub 1 and site line and hypotenuse.
Dallin is sounding really good on his cornet! He's also learning how to deal with being wrongly accused. Serving lunch detentions that should have been served by others etc... We had a good discussion about the guy who was recently released from 15 years in prison after being wrongly accused of a crime and his attitude upon release. No anger or resentment- just excitement to be able to be with his family.
Scott and I are between semesters. It's been a longer end this time. One hint: Don't wait until you're a senior to fulfill your foreign language requirements - especially if you're a little apprehensive about it!
